HeliumLift App Reviews

16 Customer Reviews:

I LOVE the idea of this app and would find it so useful…if it worked. The whole “floating screen” part is amazing but for some reason Netflix doesn’t work. It worked the very first time I launced the app but not since. YouTube works great though. But I’d REALLY appreciate if Netflix worked. Please fix this and i’d be happy to give this app 5 stars.

Worked like a charm the first few months when I first got it a few weeks ago (september 1st, 2016) and I tried using it again today. Click the icon, pops up, white blank application. Tied to uninstall and reinstall and still didn’t work, several times actually. I really like this app but having it malfunction like this is such a buzzkill. It was a five but it’s got me at one now. Fix please.

I love the home screen much better than Helium, but haven’t been able to get it to play Netflix movies. Helium plays them fine, so not sure why this won’t. But looks like a great start!

Doesn’t work!

I tried Netflix, youtube. Both didn’t work. So all in all this app doesn’t work for me. Good luck to the developer!

The concept of this is great but it would be better if it worked. Hulu and youtube works but not netflix which is one of the main reasons I downloaded this app. Please work on this. I would love to see it work. Good Luck

I got the app here at the app store, and it didn’t work. I downloaded it from the Helium website and it works like a charm. Can’t wait for the apple app to meet that standard, so that it can be verified by apple instead of a ‘sketchy’ download from the web! (If downloaded from the web, press CONTROL button and then click the icon to override Mac’s built in security system!

Needs work...

I was really excited to download this app...but when I tried to watch netflixs it didn’t work. Please fix this! Aloha

I was excited by the concept but once I clicked my Netflix profile, the window went black & nothing played. Then, I found it impossible to quit, as it doesn’t have it’s own program menu and wasn’t listed in the force quit menu. Shutting down wouldn’t quit it either so I had to do a hard restart to exit.

Bummer

I like many were very excited about this app however once I click on Netflix or youtube the app doesn’t work anymore.

People are right, Netflix seems like it is going to work, but doesn’t when you try to load a video. However if you run Plex, as I do, then it works great and is great to have. Again, if Netflix is your main video streaming, then this isn’t for you.

Best part: it works in full screen too! I’ve been using this app to watch YouTube vidoes while working in full screen. It’s way better than trying to watch YouTube in split view (since Split View drastically reduces the size of your primary window). It took only a few seconds to login to YouTube and start wathcing. Thanks, developers!

No way to close app upon initial open

This is incredibly annoying. To close the app I needed to delete it completely from my computer. Super annoying from a UX perspective.

HeliumLift is a menu bar app. To quit, youll need to go up to the top of the menu next to your battery, wifi, clock, etc. and select the icon to see the context menu which includes quit.

Love it!

I love this app. I used to use helium but this is just so much better. Thank you for creating such a versatile application.

Either this isn’t what I thought or I am doing it wrong but when clicking full screen in Hulu instead of filling up the floating window it goes black and the Hulu video goes full screen on my desktop taking up the whole screen except for the Helium window and the top and bottom menu bars. Kind of the exact opposite of what I needed! UPDATE EDIT: The app still works as I have described (both versions) but I have found that it still works great when using the zoom function to adjust the screen size in Hulu and adjusting the Helium window rather than using the full screen function.
